Laboratory Chemicals

Laboratory chemicals are essential for many categories of scientific research. They are used for everything from creating buffer compounds to being used as molecular weight markers. They are an essential part of nearly every laboratory.

Laboratory chemicals can be quite hazardous, so it is important that they be treated with great care. Many of these compounds can be toxic and/or corrosive, leading to a multitude of health problems if they are mishandled. This is why many of these chemicals are strictly controlled and cannot be purchased just anywhere.

Any institution that uses laboratory chemicals is subject to regulation by the Occupational Health and Safety Administration. In certain circumstances, the Environmental Protection Agency will also have a list of regulations that need to be followed as well. These regulations almost always require proper labeling of chemicals and easy access to any Material Safety Data Sheets.
