Lab Equipment

Depending on the purpose of the laboratory, the lab equipment that is used can vary considerably. Devices designed for everything from sterilization to the deconstructing of organic compounds can be found in laboratories all over the world. Many of these devices can cost hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Autoclaves are one of the most common pieces of lab equipment. These devices are designed to sterilize tools and containers through the use of high pressure, heat and steam. They are an essential part of maintain clean, uncontaminated laboratory environment.

Centrifuges are also common pieces of lab equipment. These devices are most often found in medical laboratories, but they have other uses as well. Simply stated, their primary function is the separation of solids from liquids.
